It is safe to say that, without LACCEA I would have retired or been fired, long before now. When "administrators" took it upon themselves to write my "Assessment of Promotability" (AP) in violation of County policy, which said my Supervisors should write it, LACCEA Attorney (Donna C. Wells) intervened and had it done correctly. Overnight, I went from "Band 5" to "Band 2." And I got promoted!

Year's later; when I received a completely unsupported "Needs Improvement" on my "Performance Evaluation" (PE), LACCEA was there for me again. The same attorney helped me write the grievance letter and was sitting next to me for the grievance hearing. The "Needs Improvement" was retracted.

I have referred many of my colleagues to LACCEA. Some have joined and been glad they did. Others did not join and came to regret it. The County can be a wonderful place to work until it is not. Then it turns ugly. And, when that happens, it is good to have LACCEA on your side. (Especially if you are no longer with SEIU.)

I have been employed with the County of Los Angeles for 16 years now. I am a Children's Social Work and enjoy the work that I do. I joined LACCEA in 2013, and it has been on of the best decisions I have made. Having the peace of mind that someone will actually stand up for you and represent you, let's me focus on the work that I do.

I spoke to Ivette Molina, and she translated from Spanish to English so I could communicate with Mr. Dione. I asked them for help because I had a harassment problem at work. My attorney, Mr. DiNome, represented me at my IPMs. The Los Angeles County Chicano Employee Association always helps me when I have a problem at work. I have been a member for 18 years and I am very happy with their services. I have asked for help three times and they have helped me every time and they continue to help the community.

I became a member of LACCEA a couple years back. When I became a member, I didn't know how important my membership was until Donna Wells and the LACCEA team came to my rescue. Donna assisted me on two occasions, and she amazed me on both. She used her overwhelming knowledge to enlighten the participants of both situations. After Donna's enlightening, the participants decided to change their decision. Today, I understand the importance of my LACCEA membership. If you're not already; become a member today! Thank you LACCEA!

I just want to thank LA County Chicano Employees Association, especially to Dion for all of his great advice and help. His guidance and support kept me at peace during a stressful situation. Dion is tactful and knowledgeable about your rights as an employee and workplace equity. I definitely recommend joining this association.

I wanted to say thank you for representing me in my grievance process. I can’t express my gratitude. They got their asses handed to. The expression on their faces was my favorite. I loved the fact that you did your research but also incorporated my statements in your arguments. This was my first experience and hoping it will be the last but I was genuinely impressed the way you fought for me. As you know we pay $20 a month for the membership but this organization offers a service that no one does. Frankly, it’s the best money I’ve spent. I will be letting my managers buddies know, as I have been, of this great service the organization provides. If you are representing anyone good luck to the opposing party because they don’t have a chance! I appreciate you and the organization and again thank you blessings!

I am writing to express my appreciation for the excellent work that representative Robert Meneses did representing me in August 2025 for a "Notice of Non-Compliance." Mr. Meneses provided mentoring and helped put my mind at ease; he explained the level of severity of what such Notice might have; he provided sound orientation on how I should respond in writing and on how to prepare for the meeting; he explained my options available, and by doing so, he helped set his client in a good position. Mr. Meneses’ understanding of the culture in my work environment adds to his skills. It showed during the process. On the day of the meeting with my administration in August, administration went from a position of one that the Notice of Non-Compliance would be filed at the Human Resources Department, to a position of that the Notice would instead be kept only at my district office in Pomona. Administration seemed to have backed off. Mr. Meneses showed a strong and firm presence during representation which I appreciate. His representation took a load of worry off of my mind since our initial contact; he helped me feel assured. I, Oscar Plata, highly recommend Robert Meneses to all L.A. County employees who may find themselves in need of sound, professional representation. And thank you LACCEA, for this great service that you provide to us.
